OSAI Handbook

Production workflows, explained step by step.

A guided documentation center for installing OS Production AI, learning each module, and applying OSAI inside real Revit production workflows.

Quick start

A simple first-run path.

Move from install to your first reviewed workflow with a clean sequence.

1

Install the bundle

Place the OS Production AI bundle in the Autodesk ApplicationPlugins folder.

2

Launch Revit

Restart Revit so the add-in bundle can load cleanly.

3

Open OSAI

Use the OSAI welcome screen to choose your production workflow.

4

Generate your first workflow

Run a focused workflow, review the output, and adjust to your standards.

Modules

Explore the OSAI modules.

Module 02Dimensions Engine

Purpose

Dimensions Engine

Generate room, internal, external, and grid dimensions using production-focused logic.

Step by step

  1. 1Open Dimensions Engine
  2. 2Select floor plan views
  3. 3Choose dimension type
  4. 4Apply dimension settings
  5. 5Review and adjust generated dimensions

Best practice

Always review generated dimensions before submission or construction documentation.

Module 03Permit Package

Purpose

Permit Package

Prepare permit-ready drawing packages with structured sheets, views, and documentation standards.

Step by step

  1. 1Select the permit workflow
  2. 2Choose required views and sheets
  3. 3Apply package settings
  4. 4Generate documentation package
  5. 5Review output for submission standards

Best practice

Use office standards and verify all output before submission.

Module 04Curtain Walls

Purpose

Curtain Walls

Create curtain wall documentation packages including plans, elevations, sections, and details.

Step by step

  1. 1Detect curtain walls
  2. 2Group by type
  3. 3Assign curtain wall numbering
  4. 4Generate documentation views
  5. 5Review annotations and output

Best practice

Check linked model conditions before generating curtain wall documentation.

Module 05Vertical Circulation

Purpose

Vertical Circulation

Generate documentation for stairs, elevators, ramps, escalators, and circulation cores.

Step by step

  1. 1Select vertical circulation elements
  2. 2Choose documentation mode
  3. 3Generate related views and sheets
  4. 4Review plans, sections, and elevations

Best practice

Confirm levels and element categories are correctly modeled before generation.

Module 06Area Analysis

Purpose

Area Analysis

Calculate and review area-related information for project reporting and coordination.

Step by step

  1. 1Select relevant areas or units
  2. 2Run analysis
  3. 3Review calculated results
  4. 4Export or use data for coordination

Best practice

Confirm area boundaries and naming rules before running analysis.

Module 07Unit Mix Analyzer

Purpose

Unit Mix Analyzer

Review residential unit counts, carpet area, sellable area, and mix statistics.

Step by step

  1. 1Select unit data
  2. 2Run unit mix analysis
  3. 3Review unit counts and area totals
  4. 4Use output for project reporting

Best practice

Keep unit names and boundaries consistent across the model.

Workflows

Real production workflows.

Sheet Creation

Starting point

You already have model views ready for documentation.

OSAI workflow

Select views, generate sheets, place views, and review sheet data.

Result

Hours of manual sheet setup reduced to minutes.

Permit Package

Starting point

You need to prepare a permit-ready drawing package.

OSAI workflow

Select package requirements, generate views/sheets, apply documentation structure, and review submission output.

Result

A more controlled permit documentation process with fewer repetitive setup tasks.

Curtain Wall Package

Starting point

Your project includes multiple curtain wall types that need documentation.

OSAI workflow

Detect curtain walls, group types, assign numbering, and generate related documentation views.

Result

Cleaner facade documentation with less manual view preparation.

Vertical Circulation

Starting point

Stairs, ramps, elevators, or circulation cores require production sheets.

OSAI workflow

Select the circulation element, generate plans/sections/elevations, and review output.

Result

Faster vertical circulation documentation packages.

Setup

Installation

Use one clean bundle installation method, then restart Revit before first launch.

Supported Revit versions

Revit 202120222023202420252026

Recommended installation

Copy the OS Production AI.bundle folder to:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins

Then restart Revit.

First launch

OSAI loads automatically and shows the welcome screen.

Duplicate add-in warning

If Revit reports that the add-in already exists with the same AddInId, remove duplicate developer add-in files from:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins

Keep only one installation method active.

Troubleshooting

Common setup and output questions to check first.

OSAI does not appear in Revit.

Confirm the bundle is installed in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins and restart Revit.

Revit shows a duplicate AddInId error.

Remove duplicate add-in files from the Revit Addins folder and keep only the bundle installation.

Dimensions are missing or incomplete.

Some geometry, curtain wall openings, irregular rooms, or unsupported references may require manual review. Always verify generated dimensions.

Arabic tags or translations are missing.

Confirm the required dictionary file/path is available if Arabic support is used.

Generated output needs adjustment.

OSAI accelerates documentation but users must review and adjust generated outputs according to project and office standards.

Important note

Review before submission.

OSAI automates documentation workflows, but it does not replace professional judgment. Always review generated sheets, dimensions, tags, schedules, and documentation before construction, permit submission, fabrication, or production use.
